
The havoc caused by the insurgency in Yobe state can not be over emphasized. The menaced of the insurgency covered most part of Yobe state especially the southern part of the state. This nefarious activity by the insurgency has seriously effected the economic and overall development of the state. The insecurity caused by the insurgent led to loss of life, properties and a total loss of Governance on the effected areas, there by causing displacement of many houses holds.
The Internal Displaced persons IDPs who has horrible accounts of the incidences, have no alternative than finding a secured places. Therefore, Government at different levels, donor agencies and individuals provided a temporary solace to the sorrowful Internal Displaced persons (IDPs) by settling them at various camps. Here in Yobe state, the state Government provided camps to the displaced persons from Gujba and Gulani Local Government areas, which was most effected areas by the insurgent.
While state Government provided camps at Kukareta, Pompomari and Kasaisa, host communities also gives succor to the IDPs. Government agencies like National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) as well as donor agencies like United Nation Human Right Commission (UNHRC), Red Cross (RC), Action Against Hunger (ACF) and others supplied relief materials, e.g food items, house hold utensils, beddings to the Internal Displaced victims.
Considering the improvement of peace and security at the effected areas some IDPs expressed the eagerness to return back to their various homes, villages and towns. The IDPs who in the company of the Military severally visited their "ghost like homes" expressed hope that the concern authorities willurgently consider necessary support for their rehabilitation, resettlement and reconstruction of their dilapidated houses and other public structures. This according to the victimswill enable them timely prepare for the on coming raining season.
In view of the returns of peace in the effected areas, the state government is working closely with the military and other security operatives toward ensuring smooth returns of the Internal Displaced Persons IDPs to their respective residents.
To achieve this, with in the shortest possible time, the state government has dispersed its services provider agencies like; water, Health, electricity and Environment to ensure a timely and successful returns of the victims to their homes.
While the state government is determined to returns victims to their original base, military are gallantly fighting and defeating the insurgence, there by signaling a beacon of hope to the peoples displaced by the act of the notorious extremist across the Northeast sub-region of the Country.
