Recycle- Don't just say it. Do it!

National and international days dedicated to pressing issues come, we celebrate, they go and we forget.

For example, we just celebrated ‘World Asthma Day'. In fact, we celebrate it every first Tuesday of May every year. Okay, let's be honest. We don't really celebrate it. We just wish it on the social media and then forget about it. We all have become so obsessed with social media that we have become blind to the fine line between authenticity and hypocrisy.

On World Asthma Day, everybody could be seen shouting their hearts out to help create a better world for those suffering from asthma, a world where their lungs could be thankful for the fresh air, a world free of pollution- in those bold capital letters!

And what happened after that? To be precise- what happened instantly after that? I mean, just after you typed your rage out on social media?

You went back to your regular life where you have accepted pollution as an inseparable part of life. That's what happened!

If you had just taken a minute out to put those plastic bottles, paper waste or metal waste in the recycle bin instead of throwing or burning them away, you would have supported your own cause, your own health.

But, let's just admit that we are just a bunch of hypocrites whose rage start and end with social media. All we want is to have more likes than our friends. It has become a competition of attaining more likes and more comments. Very few really care and actually do something to change the situation.

Let me ask you one question. What good would it do for you if your employer paid you through likes instead of that salary check you so eagerly wait for? "Yeah, so you worked really hard, I loved your work, here's a like for you."

It's high time we wake up and realize the harsh reality. Just like to grow a plant you need to regularly water it and care for it, to achieve significant results you need to take relevant steps for your cause, no matter how big or small it is.

So, let's make a promise to ourselves today; not because this day is dedicated to a famous personality or a cause, but because we care. We care about our Earth. We care about the environment. We care about our health.

Let's say no to pollution. Let's recycle.
