Why Throw Away The Plastic Bottles When You Can Create Something Beautiful?

Why throw away the plastic bottles when you can create something beautiful?

Creating something on your own is always, always cool. And, when you take that effort to an even higher level and put use to those dirty old things or the ‘waste products' as they call it, your art becomes more refined and appreciable. After all, you are putting use to the unusable.

Most people, even those very much honest to recycling, just throw away everything plastic once they have used it for its primary purpose. Little do they know how much they can save and create just by reusing those seemingly waste plastics!

Before I get any further, here's a quick question: Do you know that the PET plastic bottles you throw away after using once can actually be very useful, thereby decreasing the load of pollution caused by plastic. Yes, those PET plastic bottles are made of transparent, resilient, flexible and ‘food safe' material.

Well, you don't necessarily have to store pulses and food in there, but even if you do, know that it's completely safe. So, here are a few ideas you can use to bring out your creative side, put use to those plastic bottles and save the environment at the same time.

1.    Outlandish Garden
How can you possibly make a garden using plastic bottles, right? Well, all you have to do is place the bottle horizontally and cut out a rectangular piece. The next step is to fill in half the bottle with soil & put your preferred seeds and plants in there. Repeat the same with as many bottles and kind of plant you like, and the next thing you know- Your Outlandish garden is ready.

Another way is to draw a shape you like on paper and cut it out, then place it on the bottle and cut it in that shape. Paint the bottle, put soil & your plants in and you are good to go.

2.    Eccentric Chandelier

Chandelier and plastic bottles, huh? This must be the first thought popped up in your mind, but don't jump to conclusions before you see the results. What you need to do is cut out the bottom of the bottles; you'll need 50 or may be 100 or more depending upon the size of the chandelier you are looking forward to make. Glue them all together in a semi-spherical shape. Don't forget to make a hole in the piece placed in the centre. Attach a bulb to a strong wire and pass it through the centre. Your chandelier is ready to light up your room.

3.    Scaly Lamp
You'll need a wide bottle and a packet of plastic spoons. Cut out the bottom half of the bottle and tips of the spoon. Put some glue on the spoon tips and glue them together on the outer surface of the bottle. Attach the bulb to a wire and pass it through the neck of the bottle. Switch on the bulb and gloat under the light of your creation. Tip: Play with the colors. You can also take multi-colored spoons to add a colorful touch to your lamp.

4.    Paint Stamp
This one actually doesn't require any work. You just take a bottle and the color of your choice in a pallet. Dip the bottom of the bottle in the paint and start stamping your heart out. Well, don't waste paper, do it as per your need, to make a wall paper, to make a gift wrapping paper, to make a painting, anything. After all, the whole point is to encourage re-use of whatever we can and reduce the wastage.

5.    Bird Feeder
Take a bottle and two wide mouthed spoons. Pass the spoons through the bottle. Make two holes in the bottle just above the two spoons and fill it with millet.

So, pick up those extra plastic bottles lying around in your kitchen and show the world your artistic side.

Call Us for Safe and Reliable Plasma and LCD Recycling Services!

When it comes to quality, price and the way they work, LCD and Plasma technology are different. However, once they are damaged or simply stop working they are more or less the same. LCD is the name given to displays and monitors based on liquid crystal materials. Most of these crystals are chemicals like MBBA, Trans-1-4-propilcyclohexane (liquid), 4-propoxy-4-carbonitrile (powder) etc. On top of that, these monitors usually contain heavy metals and other potentially hazardous materials. Plasma TVs and monitors also contain some chemicals and compounds harmful for the environment like heavy metals and brominated flame retardants. Both devices have a lifespan of about 60.000 hours. After that, they are practically useless.

This is the reason why many people who will pass these 60.000 hours and witness the deterioration of their device choose to store the unwanted device in their homes or business premises. In addition, some of them throw these devices like ordinary communal waste. Both options are impractical and dangerous. The chemicals we have mentioned before will leak over time causing mess and potential health risk to the people who live in that home or work in that area. On the other hand, if plasma or LCD devices are left as communal waste they will reach the closest landfill and this means even greater indirect risk because these toxins can enter the soil and ultimately the water causing a lot of problems in the environment. In addition, they also pollute the air if left exposed to sun. So, what can you do in cases like this? Well, simply Call Us for Safe and Reliable Plasma and LCD Recycling Services!

Recycling is definitely the most eco-friendly solution in cases like this. This process guarantees that every useful material found in plasma and LCD will be extracted and prepared for reuse. Needless to say, in this way we will protect our nature because manufacturers won't need to search and extract for new resources and create pollution while processing them. Furthermore, the materials and resources that can't be reused are treated and stored adequately. What is important to point out is that there is a minimal or even absence of any negative effects to the environment and this is what matters the most.

When we say Call Us for Safe and Reliable Plasma and LCD Recycling Services we don't mean just adequate transportation and disassembling of plasma and LCD devices. We are always following the newest trends in the field of recycling and we incorporate the latest technology in this process. We have high-quality machines and qualified and skilled technicians that know their job. Another thing that we would like to point out is that we don't ship the plasma and LCD devices abroad in 3rd world countries like some service providers. This is not a long-term solution because pollution is a global issue.

Finally, we are here to make this process as simple as it can be, so feel free to contact us at any time to get more information.

Catalytic Converter Recycling

A catalytic converter is an air pollution control device which is fitted in automobiles in order to detoxify the exhaust gas coming out of them. This is achieved through a special catalyst made from platinum group metals, which makes it possible to reduce the toxicity of exhaust gases. We are all aware that platinum is a rare earth metal. Mining of platinum is an extremely lengthy process, with a lot of effort involved along the way. Even after the platinum ore is extracted from the mines, processing it to produce pure metal requires much chemical manipulation, which also ends up causing some amount of pollution in the environment. This is why recycling catalytic converters is an important activity, so that overall pollution levels (as the bottom line) can be brought down and air quality can be made better.

It is a common estimate that one ton of platinum ore produces one ounce of pure platinum, which is a shameless amount (this is probably why it is a rare earth metal). A production level that is this low calls for utilization of every single gram of platinum already present in purified form – which is possible if one is to recover this processed platinum. Individually, one catalytic converter may not contain much quantity of platinum. Also, recovering unused platinum from a converter is also not a straightforward process. Therefore, establishment of dedicated facilities for the purpose of extraction of unused platinum from catalytic converters is the correct way of dealing with degradation of the environment.

These days, 98% of the automobiles are by default manufactured with a catalytic converter on board. This became a mandate when it was realized that exhaust from automobiles was ruining the air quality, subsequently leading to respiratory diseases in living beings. With so many such devices roaming around the roads, it is possible to feasibly formulate a business case for the greater good. Catalytic converter smelting plants have been set up, which help in platinum recovery from expired catalytic converters. The commonly accepted mode of catalytic converter recycling is as follows: the user of the automobile takes it to a garage in order to get the catalytic converter removed. The owner now checks the market for catalytic converter prices. When this survey is complete, the user takes his catalytic converter to the dealer offering him the highest price for his device. The dealer collects such devices from hundreds of users spread over a region. When a threshold number of devices have been collected, the dealer takes them to a recycling company, to whom he sells them. The recycling company then sells the scrap metal to suitable agencies, and processes the honeycomb structure for extracting platinum. When this platinum is extracted, it is then sold to catalytic converter manufacturers.

In this way, it is ensured that pollution is controlled at every step in the value chain of this device. Air pollution is reduced in this way, and recycling is successfully implemented, making this planet a greener place to be. Top Reasons for Choosing Electronics Recycle

There are millions of people that have drawers that are filled with old cell phones or perhaps a basement that as a heap of outdated and discarded computers, unused VCR, printers, fax machines etc. These husks of used electronics litter many homes and offices making them look like creepy electronics graveyards. As these tech graveyards continue to grow, you need to consider Chicago electronics recycling and the important reasons why you cannot afford to miss out.

Safety: The longer you continue to have an electronics graveyard ad especially in the workplace, the greater the chances that someone will actually accidentally toss them into the trash and it may be an illegal thing to do. When you carelessly discard electronics waste you are disposing of mercury, arsenic and the lead in those devices and they could leak into underground water sources is the e-waste is left in the landfills. Worse still, you will be leaving room for data security gaps if people get access to the information on those discarded items. The safe thing to do is to organize for separate data destruction and ensure that you get a reputable electronics recycle company to deal with your electronic waste.

Eco-friendly: One way of making sure that your electronics waste doesn't end up in landfills is by looking for an eco-friendly way of getting rid of your tech graveyard. Instead of letting all that e-waste actually go into waste by simply sitting in that closet or drawer, you want to make sure that the material has been put to good use. Electronic waste is has a host of precious metals such as gold, silver, copper and palladium that should be out to proper use. Additionally, there are devices that could still be functional that can be resold or donated as long as you ensure that you have dome secure data destruction so as to protect your privacy. There are manufacturers who accept functional electronics devices in take-back programs where they re-route them to schools, charities, and needy homes.

Ethical: The electronic waste crisis cannot get better on its own without your participation especially when you think that more than 90 percent of e-waste is actually dumped illegally. This translates to tons and tons of toxic compounds that are left to contaminate the environment and the amount keeps growing year after year. Everyone can play their role by taking care of their own tech graveyard through electronics recycling.

Easy: The best part of Chicago electronics recycling is that you don't have to struggle to do it; this task is normally as easy as dropping off your load of electronics at a designated dropping point by a certified recycler. Once you have done that, you can rest assured that the electronic devices will be handled safely and effectively.

All About Catalytic Converter's Working, Functions & Benefits

It is said that during the time of recession, thieves used to steal cars in order to fetch catalytic converters, to sell it in the black market. They mostly target Catalytic converters as it contains a great range of precious metals (such as rhodium, palladium and platinum), which can help in fetching hundreds of dollars in the black market. They can be easily recycled in order to extract valuable metals.

Introduction to catalytic converters

A catalytic converter is a device that uses a catalyst in order to convert three harmful compounds such as Nitrogen oxide, Carbon monoxide, and Hydrocarbons in car exhaust into harmless compounds. This devise is used for significantly reducing the emissions from an internal combustion engine (of any vehicle). It is engineered to provide a site for the oxidation and reduction of toxic by-products of fuel into less hazardous substances such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and nitrogen gas.

Working style

A catalytic converter is a device that utilizes the redox reactions in order to reduce the pollutants. It significantly converts approximately 98% of the harmful gases produced by a car engine into less harmful components.

Composition of a catalytic converter

A catalytic converter is composed of a metal housing with a ceramic honeycomb-like interior with insulating layers. It uses oxidation and reduction reactions/processes to convert the unwanted components like Nitrogen oxides, Carbon monoxide, and Hydrocarbons.

Function of A catalytic converter

  • Reduction of nitrogen oxides into elemental nitrogen as well as oxygen
  • Oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide
  • Oxidation of hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide & water

Dangers of pollutants (Nitrogen oxides, Carbon monoxide, and Hydrocarbons)

  • Nitrogen oxides: Have you ever wondered why acid rain or smog occurs? It is because of Nitrogen oxides. Nitrogen oxides and other polluted compounds when mixed with the fog create smog and may result in acid rain. (Smog - Smog is a kind of air pollution, originally named for the mixture of smoke and fog in the air. It is the chemical reaction of sunlight, nitrogen oxides & other volatile organic compounds in the atmosphere.)
  • Carbon monoxide: This is a harmful and highly poisonous variant of a naturally occurring gas, CO2.
  • Hydrocarbons: Inhaling hydrocarbons from gasoline, propellants, can be fatal to both children and adults. It can damage the lungs also in the long run.

Conclusion

This shows that catalytic converters are highly helpful not only in reducing the air pollution and make the environment pollutant free, but also make the environment much cleaner and healthier for living.

Recycle- Don't just say it. Do it!

National and international days dedicated to pressing issues come, we celebrate, they go and we forget.

For example, we just celebrated ‘World Asthma Day'. In fact, we celebrate it every first Tuesday of May every year. Okay, let's be honest. We don't really celebrate it. We just wish it on the social media and then forget about it. We all have become so obsessed with social media that we have become blind to the fine line between authenticity and hypocrisy.

On World Asthma Day, everybody could be seen shouting their hearts out to help create a better world for those suffering from asthma, a world where their lungs could be thankful for the fresh air, a world free of pollution- in those bold capital letters!

And what happened after that? To be precise- what happened instantly after that? I mean, just after you typed your rage out on social media?

You went back to your regular life where you have accepted pollution as an inseparable part of life. That's what happened!

If you had just taken a minute out to put those plastic bottles, paper waste or metal waste in the recycle bin instead of throwing or burning them away, you would have supported your own cause, your own health.

But, let's just admit that we are just a bunch of hypocrites whose rage start and end with social media. All we want is to have more likes than our friends. It has become a competition of attaining more likes and more comments. Very few really care and actually do something to change the situation.

Let me ask you one question. What good would it do for you if your employer paid you through likes instead of that salary check you so eagerly wait for? "Yeah, so you worked really hard, I loved your work, here's a like for you."

It's high time we wake up and realize the harsh reality. Just like to grow a plant you need to regularly water it and care for it, to achieve significant results you need to take relevant steps for your cause, no matter how big or small it is.

So, let's make a promise to ourselves today; not because this day is dedicated to a famous personality or a cause, but because we care. We care about our Earth. We care about the environment. We care about our health.

Let's say no to pollution. Let's recycle.

Five Essentials On TV Recycling

According to available statistics, the US consumer discards no less than 400 million electronic items annually including TV sets. Just like all the other electronic items, the TV set contains a number of harmful chemicals that must be disposed correctly or else they will lead to harmful effects on people's health in addition environmental degradation. Chicago electrons recycling companies also collect TVs that are obsolete because of the potential danger of metals such as lead finding their way to underground water systems; this is the reason why municipalities banned the disposal of old TV sets in trash bins where they are taken straight to landfills. Electronics recycle is the most responsible way or disposing of a TV set that you are no longer using. Some of the options for TV recycling include:

Find a recycling center: No one is allowed to leave their old TV set in a trash bin anymore. For proper electronics recycle regulations to be followed, you need to locate a Chicago electronics recycle firm near or better still, ask your local waste disposal company about recycling centers. These centers have systems that allow for drop-offs that are quite effective.

Find a recycling program near you: Today, Chicago electronics recycling companies have a number recycling programs especially because of the sensitivity of the matter. What's more, there are those that are actually willing to come and pick up your old TV set from your doorstep.

Find programs at electronic stores: There are a number of electronic shops that are dedicated to electronics recycle programs where they offer free TV recycling services. However, you need to learn about any conditions that such store may have before you take your old TV set to them.

Send it back to the manufacturers: Today there are manufacturers who are also keen on electronics recycling and they are normally willing to accept your TV as well as several other electronics; they will go ahead and do the recycling on your behalf. Since getting such manufacturers can be a daunting task, you want to make sure that you have done proper research on the internet to ensure that your TV adheres to their required guidelines.

Sell or donate: There is also the option of donating an old TV to different non-profit organizations especially if it is still functional but if you feel like recouping some losses you may want to actually sell the same.

Electronics recycle programs that include TV recycling are essential especially in regards to environmental protection which ultimately affects the ultimate survival of the entire human race and its future generations. This is the most responsible way of disposing of any old television as well as other electronic items that you don't find useful anymore.

All About The Catalytic Converter Recycling Industry

Catalytic converters a mandatory feature in the entire automobile industry that is run by fossil fuel. The engine of the vehicle is powered by the internal combustion which in exchange, gives out harmful emissions. These are not only choke the environment and as a result human lungs are affected due to its inhalation.

Catalytic converters are mainly two-way or three-way. The three-way model reduces the nitrogen oxide apart from reducing carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons as a two-way converter would. Though a costly addition which was resisted by the automobile industry initially, the manufacturers had to give way considering the legal regulation for air pollution. The cost is escalated as the device uses platinum group metals which are quite costly. Platinum is the most popular one but palladium, the lesser known metal of the group, actually does the job. Like any part of a machine, the converter is susceptible to a lot of wear and tear. These could be due to use of wrong type of fuel like leaded petrol. Similarly, bumpy roads and vehicle being hit by large objects could be the external reasons for damage. Ideally, the life of a catalytic converter to provide optimum result is a decade. It is advisable to change once its performance is reduced.

The growth in industry has a flip side to it, apart from aiding to the economy. The problem today glaring us is the recycling of dumped items. Increased purchasing power makes us witness the ever growing rubble with no clue to dispose it harmlessly. The world is constantly striving to develop innovations in re-cycling thereby leaving least possible residue. It surprises none that catalytic converter recycling industry is almost as rewarding as producing it. Since it contains precious metals, the recycling is very rewarding. Normally any recycling of metallic wastes involves smelting which is prone to a lot of waste in the form of spillage.

Innovation has created a state of almost zero level of spillage in catalytic converter recycling. Catalytic converter smelting has the double whammy in business. Apart from fetching money for the recycling process it guarantees getting of extracted precious metals of platinum group as an added advantage. These extracted metals are again sold in the market. Not many are in this business and among those that rule the roost are the ones who specialise in maximum extraction. The industry works in perfect tandem with scrap dealers who sort out the items that would fetch more returns for the involvement of precious metals.

Often the problem faced by many is locating such a smelting unit and transportation of one's scrap and then the headache of getting the best competitive return. The company Global Refining, through its website, provides its customers transportation of scrap. All one needs to do is call the company and they will pick up the scrap from the location and on smelting, provide the best return in the industry. The company also boasts of almost zero emission from its smelting unit and almost no spill-loss in the process.

A Brief Introduction About The Skip Hire

Skips are sort of heavy metallic box-shaped containers that are readily available for hiring purposes and are used for filling up the non-hazardous waste materials. These boxes are quite convenient for usage since the hire services would generally comprise of delivery to the location as well as recollecting the same once the hire is filled up. These skips are available in quite a number of sizes; ranging from about the size of a small car to those carried by transit vans.

The small sized Skips in Southend are considered to be appropriate for being used dumping garden wastes. The mid ranged ones are mostly used for general house renovation and building works. However, what you need to ensure is that there is sufficient amount of space for easily accessing the skip. Finally, the large skips are basic containers that have a higher side walls for facilitating in the dumping of bulkier waste materials.

  • For getting the appropriate type and size of skip, there are few questions that need to be asked, along with every possible measure to be taken.
  • Remember that the amount and type of rubbish or waste material to be disposed should also be considered. Underestimating these two factors would have you end up with the wrong skip. This would lead you to hire another skip which is definitely an unnecessary expenditure.
  • A good tip when getting rid of unwanted furniture, trees or any other bulky wooden items is to break it up first. This way you may be able to hire a smaller skip for the job which will ultimately save you money.
  • Another consideration that has to be taken into account is where the hired skip is going to be placed. If it is to be placed in a restricted environment, you may wish to order several smaller skips so you can ensure easy access to the skip for filling.
  • Wherever you place the skips, regardless of the size, you should check with your supplier if you need a council permit. Any skip stored on a public road or pavement will require this permit and it can take a couple of days to get hold of.

Skip hire prices vary nationally, and depend on the hiring company, size of skip and type of waste that it will be filled with. Often payment for the skip hire is upfront to the hiring company when placing the order or on delivery of the skip. When it has been filled you arrange for its removal with same hire company, usually up to 2 weeks hire is allowed but the hire period should be agreed when ordering. If you are trying to avoid contacting several skip hire companies.  Remember that the skip hire market is quite competitive and you are likely to be provided with a myriad of options.

Over the internet, you would get several associated companies for Skips in Southend. Keep in mind that all these skip hire companies are well aware of the needs of customers and tend to compete with each other in order to deliver excellent customer service.
